The Story ... Land O' Lakes Lodge was created in 1946 by a Canadian family headed by Arnie Robb and was subsequently owned by 5 other American families. The last owners, Melvin and Virginia Schnupp had operated the lodge for the past 20 years. The land surveyor from 1937 signed the name M.E. Crouch, although we have no evidence of proof, some people believe this might be how the lake got its name. The original lodge building was the home of a logging camp in the late 1800's. The camp was later converted to the lodge. The seven rustic log cabins where built in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Several changes to the cabins throughout the years included adding washrooms, water and electrical to all the cabins. After the huge Ice Storm in 1998 there was some damage to some of the cabins. Cabin #1 was completely rebuilt with square log construction. Three additional square log cabins were added and the addition to the main lodge was completed in the early 2000's.
This lodge has been a destination for both Canadian and American fishermen alike. Crotch Lake is approximately 5,000 acres and is 10 miles long. The lake was filmed by the TV show 'Power Boat' in 2011. There are only 6 private parcels on this lake, being 4 small cabins & 2 resorts- 'Tumblehome Lodge' & 'Land O' Lakes Lodge'. This massive water body is part of the Mississippi River watershed, which connects to Crotch Lake, Big Gull Lake, Fawn Lake & Island Lake offering endless days of paddling. The lake is surrounded by thousands of acres of Crown Land and endless trails. The shoreline is solid, sandy & pristine. With over 70 years of continuous operation, this lodge offers several different accommodation plans.
